Carl Mayer

Concept, co-ordination and production of a 9 part Videoscreening.

Graz, European cultural capital of 2003, founded a city walkway dedicated to the life and work of the artist Carl Mayer, a cinematographer who greatly influenced the expressionist movement. He was responsible for such films as: 'The cabinet of Dr. Caligari', 'Sunrise', 'The last Man' etc. To mark this occasion ZONE was commissioned by Synema to produce nine videos on the life and films of Carl Mayer, which were shown in public spaces during the Diagonale festival in Graz. Six of the nine video soundtracks were composed by contemporary musicians (buck/zeitblom, Karl-Heinz Essl, Franz Hautzinger, Klammer&Gründler Duo, Wolfgang Mitterer, thilges3).
